Fabric Guide
Fabric plays a very important role in determining the costs, printing technique and how well a shirt will be able to hold its shape even after several washing and wearing.
The most common fabrics varieties for t-shirts sold in the market are made from polyester, 100% cotton and cotton/polyester blends. In addition to the 3 common types of shirt fabrics, there are manufacturers who make fabrics from organically grown cotton and natural dyes; they do this for the purpose of saving the environment but it is more costly than common varieties. There are many types of fabric but the most common usein our manufacturing are:
Cotton
There are 2 major varieties of cotton fabric: combed cotton and carded cotton. On touch, you can note that combed cotton fabrics are softer to touch than carded ones. Combed cotton are twisting smooth, even and thinner fibers together to produce a smooth thread. While carded cotton is produced through a mixture of short, thick and ragged cotton fibers. The coarse feel of carded cotton makes the fabric’s quality inferior than combed cotton.

Cotton / Polyester Blends
While 100% cotton fabrics are very common, many manufacturers blend the cotton with polyester to make it stain and stain resistant, breathable, and less prone to shrinkage. In general, more polyester content produces greater breathability, stain and wrinkle resistance. Blended tshirts also tend to be a bit cheaper than 100% cotton.

It is fast replacing cotton fabrics in production of these speciality clothings.

Spandex
Spandex is a synthetic fabric with a polymer base, like nylon or polyester, it has unique properties that make it well suited to certain applications, such as sports apparel. The fabric is able to expand up to 600% and spring back without losing its integrity, although over time, the fibers may become exhausted. Unlike many other synthetic fabrics, spandex is a polyurethane, and it is this fact that is responsible for the fabric’s peculiarly elastic qualities.

Fabrics Type
Most of the natural and synthetic fibers are either woven or knit. There’s a difference between the two types of fabrics which you should take into consideration to make sure that the design you’re executing will look just the way you like.
The first difference between knit and woven fabrics is the way the yarn looks. Knit fabrics are made of single yarns that are braided together to produce a flexible material, it is strechtable and mainly use on t-shirt and polo shirt. Woven fabrics feature multiple yarns laid on top of each other in a perpendicular form to make the material and we mostly apply it on shirt & pants.
